After spending 2 years with internet marketing and affiliate marketing I managed to understand and identify the main reason that delayed my success and many other internet marketers success.

It is called Information Overload and I explained about it in my previous post. Now I want to share with you the main 3 reasons I personally think fuel this information overload problem:

  1. Bonuses.
  2. Up Sells.
  3. Emails.

Bonuses - I am sure that if and when you checked out a new information product, and searched the name of the product in Google or any other search engine, you came across many review type sites that post several reviews about the product and offer you a bonus deal if you will purchase that product through their affiliate link. Also, if you are signed up to any marketer mailing list you also get emails about new or old products and you are offered different types of bonuses if you will purchase that item though the link in the email. Well, this is one of the reasons for information overload as only a few will provide you with good quality bonuses that will not waste your time and cause you to lose focus of your end goal.

Up Sells - I am also sure that many of you purchased a digital product online and you probably know about those great one time offers you see after you confirm your payment. Usually you will see 2 or 3 of this one time offer Up Sells. This are confusing offers and when they are written in a professional way will cause you to purchase them also along with the main product you initially intended to purchase. Most of the times and when done correctly this up sells will be related to the main product you purchased and that is less of a problem, but when the up sells have nothing to do with the main product, this is a sure way to lose your focus and cause you to waste time and effort.

Emails - Let me ask you a simple question: “To how many email lists did you subscribe since you started taking interest in internet marketing?”. I don’t know about you, but when I started I signed up to any list I saw just to get that promised eBook, video, tip or any other benefit that was promised if I will sign up. It is very tempting and many marketers know how to increase the conversions on their opt in lists.  The amount of emails you get is enormous as most internet marketers simply bombard you with emails just in order for you to click and convert to money for them.

This are the main 3 reasons I managed to figure out and I am sure there are more. I would greatly appreciate if you will share your thoughts by commenting below and let me and everyone else know about any other reasons that cause information overload.

In my next post I will share with you how I reduce the effect of information overload on me and my business and how personally deal with each of this 3 reasons.
