Bookmarking Demon is one of first automated solutions for link building to be launched to the world. The simple fact that Bookmarking Demon is still going strong and it is still very popular almost 5 years after being launched just shows that it works.
I have tried using Bookmarking Demon in the past but I did so when I only got started and I really didn’t know anything about how it works and how to put it to good use. I decided to give it another shot and test it out again as I am looking to decrease the amount of time I invest into link building and one of the ways is using such automated tools.

Why Bookmarking Demon?
I assume you know that one of the many methods for creating backlinks to your sites is by using social bookmarking sites. This is a very well known method that has been in use for years and I assume it will not go away anytime soon. Here is what Wikipedia says about social bookmarking:
Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren’t shared, merely bookmarks that reference them.
Social Bookmarking websites are basically sites that categorize and store ‘bookmark links’ (links which take one to a specific website). Millions of visitors flood these Social Bookmarking sites to search for information.
The internet is filled with such social bookmarking sites and finding these type of sites is really not a big problem. The main problem is that it is very time consuming to social bookmark your sites manually. I am sure that if you tired doing it on your own than you know exactly what I mean.
This is exactly where Bookmarking Demon comes in.
Bookmarking Demon is a tool designed to help you make the most out of social bookmarking in the least amount of time. It is all about saving you time while providing your with much better results than you would get by doing everything manually.
This is the added value of an automated submission tool as long as it works of course.
Bookmarking Demon Features
Ease of Use
A first great feature of Bookmarking Demon is the beginner mode wizard which will make it as easy as possible to learn how to use this tool.
As you can see, it is built with step by step instructions (5 steps total) and following these steps would really shorten your learning curve of how to put Bookmarking Demon to good use.
Aside for the easy to follow beginner mode wizard, Bookmarking Demon comes with 2 PDF guides and 15 HD video tutorials. These guides and videos will answer just about any problem or question you have about the software.
This is very important as with such an advacned software many might find themselves lost
I personally loved the fact that I can access the guide and videos from inside the software and I don’t need to launch my web browser and go somewhere else. It makes it really easy when everything is inside the Bookmarking Demon user interface.
This is something I found to be very useful. Since Bookmarking Demon is meant to be used as an automated system and it can do all the submission for you in the background, having a reports feature is really great as it allows you to export reports according to projects, dates and accounts.
You can always get a report showing you everything Bookmarking Demon did for you.
Without a scheduling feature, no software can truly be fully automated and Bookmarking Demon Scheduler feature makes it a truly fully automated social bookmarking solution.
Adding a schedule is pretty easy and since you have a specially made video tutorial for that I don’t see any point in explaining the process. By scheduling your submissions you can create campaigns for the coming days and weeks and Bookmarking Demon will do all the work for you. The scheduler really allows you to use Bookmarking Demon as a set and forget tool for social bookmarking.
Adding Your Own Sites
Bookmarking Demon comes with 111 social bookmarking sites (as of August 2011). In case 111 is not enough for you than you can easily add your own sites to the software.
By using a tool such as Scrapebox you can harvest URLs of supported sites and add them to Bookmarking Demon. You can also do this manually but that will simply takes a little longer. Bookmarking Demon supports Scuttle, Pligg and PHPdug sites.
The biggest problem with automation tools such as Bookmarking Demon is that the sites they are submitting to are always looking to find and delete accounts that are being submitted to with automation tools.
In order to prevent your accounts from being deleted, Bookmarking Demon has a great feature called Bookmarking Camouflage and it will allow you to import URLs from RSS feeds and submit these URLs randomly with your own URLs. Doing it this way will make your account seem more natural as you will be bookmarking various URLs and not only URLs of very few and related sites.
Bookmarking Demon Success Rates
As with any automated software one of the most important factors to consider is the success rates. After all, what does the automation good for if it doesn’t provide you with high success rates?
I divided the success rate testing into two. Success rates for account creates and success rates for social bookmarking submissions.
Bookmarking Demon attempted to create accounts on all 101 sites. I used 10 threads and Decaptcher for solving the captchas so that the process would be fully automated. I didn’t use any proxies.
Bookmarking Demon successfully created 88 sites which is an 88% success rate. Pretty damn good in my book.
The time it took to create all of these accounts was 15:54 minutes but since it was fully automated I don’t really know how important that is for you. I was able to keep writing other parts of this review while the account creation process was running. Automation is great.
However, automation does come at a cost and the Decaptcher balance prior to starting the account creation was $12.86 and at the end it was $12.52. Total cost was $0.34. On this note I would like to mention that for some reason Bookmarking Demon is charging $4 per 1000 captchas solved while the regular price of the Decaptcher service is $2 per 1000 captchas solved. This kind of sucks but as I said, automation doesn’t come free but it is pretty cheap.
The activation process of the account was a little less successful as 64 accounts were activated successfully but I guess not everything could be perfect.
Social Bookmarking Submissions
I added my domain to Bookmarking Demon and it found and added 88 pages to the bookmarking schedule. I than continued with step 5 of the beginner wizard and submitted the URLs.
Bookmarking Demon randomly chose from the URL list and successfully submitted 66 bookmarks out of 88. That is 75% success rate and considering I didn’t use any proxies and the fact that it is fully automated I am satisfied with that number (SENuke X has the same submission success rate, just so you know).
Regarding the cost, prior to the submission process I had $12.52 balance with Decaptcher and at the end of the submission I had $12.30.
Bookmarking Demon Review – Conclusion
Bookmarking Demon was first launched back in November of 2006. That is almost 5 years now and the fact that it is still being used by so many people and Edwinsoft are keeping the updates coming goes to show that it works and does what it says it does.
I just don’t see any other way for such a tool to still be here 5 years after being released without living to the expectations.
With that said, Bookmarking Demon is only a social bookmarking automation tool and social bookmarking is just one link building method and it should not be your primary one. Social bookmarking is great as an additional link building method and it is great for creating links to your links (which will help them get indexed and carry more link juice).
Bookmarking Demon has some pretty great features that if used correctly can really make it a fully automated social bookmarking tool and the fact that it is being sold for a one time fee is not common and only makes it a better deal in my opinion.
These type of automation tools usually sell for a monthly subscription fee so being able to get it for a one time payment is pretty great even if the price is $147.
Also, since it is being sold through Clickbank, you can actually test it out for a period of 60 days as all Clickbank products come with a 60 day no questions asked money back guarantee (if you don’t know how to go about getting your refund from clickbank than you can check out my How To Get a Refund For a Clickbnak Product post).
So, with all the great features that Bookmarking Demon V5 has, the great success rates, the ability to use it as a truly fully automated social bookmarking tool and the one time payment and 60 day money back guarantee I can say that you can feel free to test it out as an added link building tool and I am sure that you will have enough data within less than 60 days to figure out if it is worth the money or not.
