The way I got my start in the internet marketing world was by promoting Clickbank product launches. I think this started out back in 2009 when George Brown released one of the most successful information products ever launched called Google Sniper.
One aspect of Google Sniper has been translated into promoting Clickbank product launches and from that day on, many have tried to become “Google Snipers” and many actually did and I was lucky enough to be among the successful ones.
In the following article I will share with you the exact blueprint I use whenever I am about to promote a new product launch. I will go over every stage of the process and into as much detail as possible so hopefully by the time you get to the end of this article, you will not have any other choice but to TAKE ACTION!
Before You Start…
This is going to be pretty long (the longest post I ever wrote ), so if you prefer to get it in PDF format together with the two link building blueprints than simply enter your name and email in the form below and I will send it to you.
Finding a Product To Promote
The first step of the process is of course finding a product to promote. There are several sources you can go to in order to find information about upcoming product launches but I am only going to share with you the one I use and that I think is the best.
JV Notify Pro – http://www.jvnotifypro.com/ by Mike Merz.
With JV Notify Pro you will get all the information about upcoming product launches. You will see the date, product creator, product name and usually a JV invite link. This is all you need in order to find a product and get started.
You can find products scheduled to launch months from now so you will have more than enough time to get everything ready for launch day. I recommend finding products that launch day is at least 3 weeks away in order to get the best results.
I strongly recommend you signup for the RSS feed so you will get all the new product launch information as fast as possible.
Analyzing The Competition
This is a tricky one as if you find a product that is scheduled to launch in a few weeks or months than you will not be able to analyze any competition because there isn’t going to be anything to analyze weeks or months prior to launch day.
This is something you will learn overtime as you will promote more products and gain more experience. Usually the products of well known internet marketers will be more competitive and much harder to rank for. But, these products will also get much higher search volume coming launch day so getting ranked high in the search engines will bring in big profits.
When it comes to product launches keyword research is really not needed. The reason is simple; you are going to focus on the product name so you don’t need to do any research as you already know the keyword phrase you want to rank for.
With product launches, you should focus on 3 main keyword phrases:
- Product Name
- Product Name Review
- Product Name Bonus
It may also be smart to focus on the product creator name as that will also get searches coming launch day and most “snipers” are not focusing on that keyword. I learned this by mistake while promoting Ritoban C Profit Instruments back in June 2010. I was ranking only in the bottom of page 1 for the main 3 keywords but most of the traffic and sales came thanks to my #2 ranking for the keyword Ritoban & Ritoban C. I wasn’t even trying to rank for these keywords but it was a good thing I did .
Picking The Right Domain Name
Picking the right domain name can make or break your campaign. If you manage to get an exact match domain (productname.com/org/net) than you are golden.
Exact match domains carry a lot of weight with Google and will help you rank higher easier and faster than with any other domain name.
The problem is that usually someone is going to bit you to the punch and all 3 exact match domains are going to be taken.
In regard to the .info domains you should know that the common ground is that Google values .info less than it values the other 3 major TLDs. I personally never tried using a .info domain so I can’t say anything with any level of certainty but since .info domains are very cheap ($2) they are very commonly used by spammers so it makes some sense that Google will look at them differently.
Also, I very rarely noticed .info domains ranking in the top positions for product launches and that is basically all the proof I need .
So, what do you do if the exact match domain is taken? You simply add more relevant keywords to the product name:
- Product Name Review or Reviews
- Product Name Bonus
- Buy Product Name
- The Product Name
- Whatever else you can think of that makes sense.
in 9 out of 10 campaigns you will be able to secure a great domain name and it will only depend on how early you find the product in question and search for the domain name.
It is very easy for find domains names using the bulk registration feature that most domain registrars are offering. I personally use GoDaddy.
Just enter all of the product name combinations you can think of for the domain name, mark the .com .org & .net TLDs and search. All the available domains will be returned and all you will need to do is pick the one you want.
Hosting & Installing WordPress
I am only going to focus on hosting your own blogs. There are many “snipers” using Sqiudoo, Blogger and Hubpages in order to rank high for product launches but since I am only using my own hosting I will focus on what I know and what works for me.
P.S. If you can afford a hosting account and buying domains than you are probably in the wrong business… This is a very small investment to make and if you can’t afford it than you should seriously consider if you are in the right business.
The clear and obvious choice for creating your blogs is WordPress. WordPress makes it very easy to create these product launch type of blogs and more importantly, WordPress is very SEO friendly and Google loves WordPress blogs.
Before you go ahead and install WordPress on your newly purchased domain, you should first get a hosting account. The ones I will be recommending are JustHost & WebHostingHub. I am only recommending services I am personally using.
In any case, you can use any hosting service you want just make sure it supports Fantastico so you will be able to install WordPress from your cPanel.
Adding your new domain and installing WordPress on it is a pretty simple process even if you never did it before. All you need to do is login to your hosting cPanel and look for the Addon Domains icon.
I am pretty sure this process is very similar to all hosting accounts so after you select the Addon Domains you will see the following screen:
Simply enter the details of your new domain and click on the Add Domain button and you are done. You just added your new domain.
Installing WordPress is also very simple and you will need to find the Fantastico or WordPress icons on your cPanel.
Just follow along with the installation process and enter the information needed and that is it. Once you complete the installation process you will have WordPress installed on your new domain.
This is pretty basic stuff so I am not going to go into too much detail on how this is done. If you do need help in figuring this out than feel free to contact me or comment below and I will be more than happy to help and assist.
Setting Up WordPress
Setting up WordPress the right way with the right set of plugins is very important. Over time I created a very simple step by step process that I am using with every new site I create and I tweak if from time to time according to new things I learn about.
In order to make this as easy as possible to understand and follow I thought a simple step by step instructions will be best:
- Deleted the welcome post.
- Deleted the About page.
- Changed the Uncategorized category name to Product Name.
- Under Settings / General
- Changed the site title to: Product Name
- Changed the Tagline to: Product Name Review & Product Name Bonus
- Under Settings / Writing
- Added a new ping list – you can download it from here. Simply copy and paste it.
- Under Settings / Privacy
- Made sure that the first option is selected – I would like my site to be visible to everyone…
- Under Settings / Permalinks
- Changed to the following Custom Structure – /%category%/%postname%/
- Entered Product Name in the Category Base.
- Under Appearance / Themes
- Installed Thesis Theme version 1.8. This is not a must and you can use any theme you want. I personally love Thesis and I use it for all my sites so there is no reason for me to make an exception here. Plus, I already paid for it .
- Tweaked and changed all the relevant Thesis Site and Design options. If you are also using Thesis and you would like to know what how I personally tweak it than simple email me.
- Under Appearance / Widgets
- Added Recent Posts, Categories and Tag Cloud to the Sidebar.
- Under Plugins
- Deleted Holy Dolly.
- Installed the following Plugins (if you don’t know what each plugin does than simply read the description after clicking on the name of the plugin).
In order to make my life easier and save time, I have all the plugins in a folder on my computer and I simply upload all the zip files. It is much faster than searching for each plugin and installing it. I would recommend you do the same.
- Updated the plugins that are not up to date. Since I install the plugins from my computer some of them may not be updated with the latest version so I simply upgrade them.
- Activated all plugins.
- Entered the WordPress API key for Akismet and WordPress.com Stats.
- Setup the Google Analytics Plugin.
- Activated the WP Super Cache Plugin.
- Setup the WordPress SEO Plugin.
This is it. WordPress is all setup and ready to start adding content to the site. This process usually takes me 10-15 minutes and the more time you do it the faster you will get it done.
I lately came across a truly great service that saves me all the time it takes me to setup WordPress. It is called WP Twin and it allows me to create a clone for one of my product launch WordPress blogs and then to simply deploy that clone to a new blog and everything is ready in a matter of seconds.
WP Twin is truly great for affiliate marketing and it will really save you a lot of time if you are creating many WordPress blogs as I am.
Creating Basic Content
I have a pretty standard process of creating content for my new product launch review sites. It is mainly constructed with 4 posts:
- Product Name Coming / Launching / Arriving / Or whatever you want.
- About the Creator / Who is the Creator?
- Product Name Review
- Product Name Bonus
The best thing to do is to schedule the posts so they will go live every 2 days or so. You can start building links even before the post goes live as after you schedule it the URL of the post is live.
As far as the content itself it is pretty much up to you. My first post is pretty basic and pretty similar for all the review sites I create as I am mainly changing the product name. About the author post will require some research and the Bonus and Review posts are all up to you. All I can say is that it is best to be different than everyone else.
The Review and Bonus posts are not finished the first time I write them as you will usually create the site a few weeks prior to launch so you won’t really know what the product is about. I simply create a basic review post saying that this is where I will post my full review of the coming product and same thing for the bonus post.
Be sure to provide a true review of the product. This is what I try to do. There are so many other “snipers” out there that are only copying stuff from the sales letter and not providing any additional information about the product mainly because they have no idea what the product is about.
I always contact the product creator or the affiliate manager and I ask them for a limited access to the member’s area of the product or a review copy in order to truly review the product. This works most of the times and all you need to do is ask by simply sending an email.
A quick tip for creating content to WordPress blog will be to use Windows Live Writer. It is a free tool that you can install and it allows you to create content and publish it to your WordPress blogs. It is very easy to use and you can see the post as it is going to be seen by others as you are writing it. You can read all about it and why I love it so much on my post – Create & Publish Your WordPress Posts Using Windows Live Writer.
Structuring the Review Post
Try to create a standard structure for your review post. I prefer not to share the same structure I am using for pretty obvious reasons. You can spy on the competition and watch how they write their reviews and gather all the good points you find and create something that will be unique to you.
Creating the Bonus
Ranking on top of Google for the product keyword is great and will get you sales, but if you truly want to kill it you should always offer a bonus and you should always make the bonus relevant to the product you are promoting.
This was one of the biggest obstacles I had when I got started as it is was really hard for me to come up with truly unique and valuable bonuses but once I managed to figure it out it truly paid and still pays off big time. To be quite honest, for many products I promote my bonus alone provides more value than the product itself (in my very objective opinion ).
The best bonus is a bonus you create yourself but when you are getting started you can use PLR products. I suggest you spy on your competition and study their bonuses. See what others are offering and get some ideas. Working hard on the bonus will payoff, guaranteed.
Internal linking is an on page SEO factor I would like to explain more about as it is very important and if done right, can get you a double and even a triple listing (pretty rare but can be done).
The basic idea behind internal linking is that the 3 posts link to the review post and the review post is linking only to the bonus post.
I am also adding links to the Review and Bonus posts to the menu. This is very easily done with Thesis but I am sure it can be done just as easily with any other theme.
Getting Indexed Fast
Google will usually index your new site within 24-72 hours but I never wait for it to get indexed by itself. Here is the process I usually follow in order to get my site indexed within a couple of hours or so and it is the same process I use for all my new sites.
- Website Indexer – This is very cool little free software and I recommend and you read all about it here.
- Quick Index Tool – This free tool was part of Ritoban C’s Profit Instruments launch back in June and it still works. It basically does exactly what the Website Indexer does so you can use only one of them.
- Submit RSS Feed – I take the RSS feed of the new site and submit it to the following RSS Aggregators:
This is the entire getting your site indexed fast process. It should take 10-15 minutes tops and it gets my sites indexed within 2 hours.
Tracking your rankings is something you will be doing quite a lot and very often especially when you are only getting started.
The tool I use to track my rankings is Market Samurai Rank Tracker Module. It is very easy to use and it is one of my favorite and mostly used modules in Market Samurai together with the keyword research module and the SEO competition module.
On a side note, if you are serious about internet & affiliate marketing than you should put Market Samurai very high on your list of tools to get. I am sure you heard about it before and the reason is that almost everyone in the industry is using it. You can read my Market Samurai Review if you want to learn more about this tool.
If you don’t have Market Samurai yet and you prefer a free solution for tracking your rankings than you can use SEOBook’s Rank Checker. This is a Firefox extension so you will need to use Firefox. Recently I must say the results I am getting with this tool are not very accurate so I don’t know how good it is going to be for you but it is consistently being updated so it will be as accurate as possible.
I am sure there are other tools and ways to track your rankings but I don’t know and I can’t tell you about them all. I am sure you will be able to find them all using the all mighty Google .
As you probably know, what will make or break your campaign will be the link building. You can do all of the previous stages perfectly but if you will not create links than you will never find your site on top of Google.
On the other hand, you can get many steps wrong along the way but if you will get the link building perfectly you just might see your site above all others. Don’t get me wrong and disregard all the previous stages as the combination of doing them together with good link building strategy will get you the best results for the least amount of work.
SEO is truly a big playing ground and it is very easy to get lost. The most important myth I want to debunk here is the one that says that with SEO you will get FREE traffic. This is not the case.
Doing everything manually without any automation tools might be free when you think of money, but you should never forget about the most important asset which is TIME. This is the reason that using and paying for some automation tools actually pays off in the long run as it saves you time that you can use to do many other things that will eventually bring in more money.
I decided to separate the link building process into 2 separate articles:
- The first will be for those who are only getting started and don’t have an SEO budget so they will mostly focus on free and manual link building. If you fit into this group than you should read my Basic, Free & Manual Link Building Blueprint.
- The second article will be for the more advanced link builders, those that are already familiar with manual link building and do have a budget to get some automation tools that will provide more linking power. If you fit into this group than you should read my Advanced Link Building Blueprint.
How To Make The Most Out Of This Strategy
As I mentioned at the beginning of this very long article , promoting product launches is a great way to get started online and I am only saying this because it worked great for me.
However, there are two things you must do in order to make this into a long term success and an actual online business.
1. Build an Authority Review Site
Building a new site for every product launch you promote has some drawbacks. All of these blogs you create are usually only good for the launch itself and the following week. For 99% of the products after launch week your site will no longer be relevant and no traffic will come your way.
These blogs are only good for a very limited purpose and a very short timeframe. This means that all of your hard work creating links and getting the site to the top of the search engines will only last for a few days and if you fail to rank high enough or if the product in question will not get enough search engine traffic than all of your work will go down the drain.
The only way to prevent these drawbacks is to build an authority review site. By doing this you will save all the money from buying domains, you will save all the setup time as you will only need to setup the site once and most importantly, all your link building will not go to waste as all the links you will create will add up over time as all will be pointing to the same domain.
With an authority review site the domain name is not important and you can pick anything you want and I would even recommend creating a new persona to surround the blog around. Simply find a unique name and use it as your new persona for the authority review site you will create.
I am sure that if you will search a few Clickbank products in Google you will find quite a few authority review sites similar to the one I am talking about here.
The main drawback for this strategy is that it will take time to build and gain “authority” and ranking high will be much harder when the site is new as opposed to ranking an exact match domain. But, it is well worth it as you might see from the traffic stats and alexa rankings of some of these authority review sites have (try to guess which one is mine…).
2. Build an Email List
The money is in the list. How many times have you heard or read this before? I am sure quite a few times and for a very simple reason. It is TRUE.
For every product launch the top affiliates will always be the ones with the email lists and not the “snipers” trying to get the traffic from the search engines. There is nothing you can do about that except starting to build your own list from the very first blog you create.
The sooner you will start creating your email list, the faster you will achieve financial freedom.
There are many autoresponders services you can choose from in order to start building your email list but as usual, I will only recommend the ones I am personally using:
I am not going to go into the differences between the 2 and which one is better. I am using both and I love them both and with GetResponse you can actually start without paying. The way I see it, whichever one you choose, you can’t go wrong.
I am not going to tell you how to build a list as this is a subject for an entire course (and there are quite a few out there ). I just want to tell you that you need to build an email list and the sooner the better.
In order to learn how to do it you will need to turn to better and smarter marketers than me because I don’t feel I am in the position to teach how building an email list should be done just yet.
What I can tell you is that getting some good PLR material that is relevant to the product you are promoting and offering it free for anyone that signs up for your email list is probably the best way to start.
Also, be sure to get the people that buy through your affiliate link on your email list. There is nothing better than having buyers on your list as you already know they are willing and able to buy stuff online. The way I did it is that whenever a person that bought through my affiliate link is requesting his bonuses, I send him to an optin form and after he confirms his email address the bonuses will be sent to him or he will be redirected to the bonus download page.
The reason I used past tense in the previous paragraph is because I am currently using an automated solution for delivering my bonuses and building my buyers email list. This is probably not something you will need when you get started but as you progress and promote more and more Clickbank products dealing with all the bonus requests will take a lot of time. The solution for this issue is called CB List Automator.
As I said, the main purpose of CBListAutomator is to automate the entire bonus delivery and email list building of your buyers. You can read all about how it works at: http://cblistautomator.com/.
The first thing I want to say to conclude this very blueprint is:
If you made it all the way to this part, than I really want to thank you as I assume you enjoyed reading what I had to share with you.
I really went all out and explained the entire blueprint I am personally using for promoting Clickbank product launches and with a great deal of success. This blueprint got me started and was the main building block of my online business.
If you want to get the entire process as explained in this article together with the two link building methods in PDF format than you can. Simply enter your name and email in the box below and I will send it to you. I will also include my very own Excel Worksheet that I use to manage all of the promotions I run. Being organized is highly important and it is something I am pretty good at (at least I think so). Plus, by joining my mailing list you will get constant tips and more valuable information.
The last thing I want to ask of you is to share your thoughts by commenting below. Tell me what you think, whether it is Good or Bad. I really want to know. If you think I left something out or maybe I should change or update something than by all means, tell me by leaving a comment below.
To your success (and mine ),
